Creating Effective Environmental Assessment and Study

An environment practitioner is greatly involved in writing assessment reports. They are conducted to measure hazardous impacts that a certain project could cause in its surrounding during and upon construction completion. Typically required in large scale projects, it has also been observed that some states promoting green building also are in need of it. Nevertheless, whether it is fully needed depends on the government body imposing it.

How Important Is An Environment Impact Assessment?

Basically, the results of the assessment would determine whether a certain project can push through or not. Thus, the need for the environmental consultant to come up with an honest to goodness assessment is very high. If possible, it should not leave any room for queries and uncertainties as it could lead to loss of credibility.

Basic Contents of an Assessment Report

Further dissection of the report would show that considerations whether water quality, wastewater treatment plants, urban living, air quality, land use, energy efficiency, and socio-economic variables are discussed, stressing all known environmental factors are considered in coming up with a final decision on the indicated impact. As per government agencies involved, limitations in its amount are set forth and verified through actual testing and measurements at the site location.

For example, some of the variables are thoroughly measured with an environment risk assessment. In this part of the report, concentration of dust, NO2, and other harmful substances in the air and waterways are checked and tested through data sampling during this period. At the same time, analysis in the possible traffic and management scheme due to heavy equipment activities to transport materials and do workaround is also highlighted in the assessment. Whatsoever results would come up will be reflected in the report.

All problems that require attention should be presented with an environmental management system to know what actions should be taken as the construction works moves forward.

Qualifications in Doing Environment Impact Assessment

Basically, the fewer the involved heads are, the more unbiased the assessment report would be. It is best that they have certifications coming from LEED or any approved equivalent. At the same time, the environmental experts should not be too diversified that they end up expressing different opinions. This, nevertheless, can be resolved by coming up with remediation strategies focused on long-term actions and potential future developments that may occur within the project vicinity.
